Overview

Use this free spin-the-wheel tool as a random name picker for classrooms, meetings, simple giveaways, games, team order, or everyday decisions. Every active line is one equal ticket, and duplicate lines remain separate tickets.

Best for

  • Choosing a random student, speaker, task, meal, game, or order.
  • Removing each winner so every active ticket gets a turn.
  • Saving separate lists locally for classes, teams, or recurring meetings.

Not for

  • Audited prize drawings, regulated raffles, or selections that need an independent record.
  • Secretly choosing a winner, assigning custom weights, or publishing private name lists.

How it works

  1. Paste one name or choice per line; empty lines are ignored.
  2. Choose whether the winner stays active or is removed after the spin.
  3. Spin the wheel, review the winner and probability, then spin again or undo a removal.

Limits and privacy

The wheel accepts 2 to 500 active tickets, with up to 80 characters per entry. It uses browser Web Crypto with rejection sampling when available. Entries, saved wheel names, winners, and session history stay local and are excluded from analytics.

Common uses

  • Pick a student or presentation order in a classroom.
  • Choose a speaker, task owner, lunch option, or game challenge.
  • Run a simple visual drawing when an audited or regulated draw is not required.

Useful facts

  • The winning ticket is selected before the animation, so frame rate and screen size cannot change the result.
  • Duplicate lines are intentionally treated as additional tickets and their probability is shown.
  • Saved wheels use local browser storage and can be forgotten at any time.

FAQ

Is this wheel of names random?

The tool uses the browser Web Crypto API and rejection sampling to select an equal-probability active ticket before the animation starts.

Can the same name appear more than once?

Yes. Each duplicate line is a separate ticket, so repeated names have a proportionally higher chance. The interface shows duplicate counts and winner probability.

Are names uploaded or shared?

No. Names, wheel titles, winners, and session history stay in the browser and are not placed in shared URLs or analytics.
